Islamabad (HRNW) — The Additional Attorney General of Pakistan stated that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is a U.S. citizen, and her sentence was served in the United States. Therefore, the Government of Pakistan cannot interfere in the American judicial system.
He added that the government complied with the court’s directives, and the matter now falls under the jurisdiction of the U.S. authorities and judiciary.
The Islamabad High Court has directed the federal government to submit a complete briefing on the matter by January 20.
