Islamabad (HRNW)- A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Housing and Works, chaired by Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, was adjourned after strong objections were raised over the continued absence of the Minister and Secretary for Housing during deliberations on the Islamabad Capital Territory Bill.
Committee members expressed serious concern, stating that despite the importance of the bill, senior officials were not taking the matter seriously. Chairman Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri pointed out that neither the minister nor the secretary had attended the last two meetings, calling the situation alarming. He questioned the inclusion of insurance-related clauses in the bill, raising concerns about accountability and compliance with Islamic principles.
Members emphasized that the presence of responsible officials is necessary to move legislative work forward. Abrar Ahmed noted that meaningful progress is only possible when senior officers participate in meetings. Following the continued absence of key officials, the committee was forced to adjourn the session without reviewing the bill.
