International Conference to Probe Systemic Violence Against Minorities in India

Baku, Azerbaijan/Punjab, India (HRNW)- Reports emerged today of a major international conference scheduled for January 16, organized to address what activists call “repressive policies” against Sikhs and other ethnic minorities in India. The forum will feature survivors and human rights defenders from Canada, the UK, and the US. Meanwhile, in New Delhi, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) reported that over 44,000 cases of rights violations remain pending as of the start of 2026, highlighting a significant backlog in the country’s domestic justice system.
