Karachi (HRNW)- The Sindh High Court\u2019s constitutional bench has expressed its anger at the Karachi Water Corporation officials, saying that ensuring water supply to citizens is a fundamental right, and the mayor had promised that water would be provided through the line.<\/p>\n
The court said this during the hearing on the petition of a citizen of Orangi Town, in which the issues of non-supply of water to the citizen\u2019s house were raised.<\/p>\n
The Karachi Water Corporation\u2019s lawyer told the court that there are old lines and electricity load shedding is also an obstacle in the supply of water. To which Justice Adnan Karim Memon remarked, \u201cThen build the lines, spend some on the public as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Superintendent Karachi Water Corporation told the court that very little water is being supplied from behind. Justice Adnan Karim asked, \u201cThen where are the tankers getting the water and delivering it to the entire Karachi? When water is available through tankers, why is it not being provided through the line?\u201d<\/p>\n
The superintendent replied that some tankers take water from illegal hydrants. The court clarified that through legal or illegal means, water should reach the citizens\u2019 homes. The court ordered that the tanker system be shut down and water should be supplied to the citizens through lines. The court said that a strict decision will be taken on this petition.<\/p>\n
