London (HRNW)- Former Prince Andrew, brother of King Charles III of Britain, has been arrested on suspicion of alleged misconduct and corruption in public office. The allegations are that Andrew, as a British trade representative, shared sensitive government information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n
Thames Valley Police said in a statement that a 60-year-old man from Norfolk has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, while searches are underway at residences in Berkshire and Norfolk. Under British law, the police did not reveal the name of the suspect, but the details provided are consistent with the allegations regarding the former Prince Andrew.<\/p>\n
According to reports, police officers also arrived on Thursday morning at the residence on the Sandringham Estate, where Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor currently resides.<\/p>\n
Former Prince Andrew’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein has already been the subject of global debate and he was also stripped of royal positions last year. Documents uncovered in the recent investigation claim to include emails showing that official reports on trips to South Asia were shared with Epstein.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace said in a statement on February 9 that it would cooperate fully with the police if contacted. According to the statement, King Charles III has expressed deep concern over the allegations.<\/p>\n
Police say the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken in accordance with legal requirements.<\/p>\n
