Karachi (HRNW)<\/strong>– Every society faces certain fundamental issues that demand serious and timely attention. Ignoring these problems can lead to severe consequences, much like a heart patient requiring bypass surgery when treatment is delayed. Through wisdom, responsibility, and collective efforts, these challenges can be overcome, enabling society to progress with harmony and stability.<\/p>\n

These views were expressed by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi on Monday. He was addressing a seminar organized by the KU\u2019s Department of Criminology at the School of Law Auditorium. The seminar was titled \u201cSociety at Risk: Emerging Challenges and the Role of Students.\u201d<\/p>\n

The KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi highlighted that inequality is the greatest challenge of the present era. He stressed that no society can achieve sustainable development without embracing the principles of justice, equality, and fairness.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that treating everyone equally, regardless of race, ethnicity, caste, or other distinctions, is the need of the hour. He reminded the audience that Islam had laid down clear teachings of equality and justice 1,400 years ago, and by practicing these values, an ideal society can be established.<\/p>\n

He added that problems are an inevitable part of life and cannot be eliminated. However, finding effective solutions is our responsibility. \u201cNo issue is permanent; what is required is to utilize knowledge and awareness collectively to fulfill our responsibilities and ensure the betterment of society.\u201d<\/p>\n

The seminar also included a question-and-answer session, during which the KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi provided detailed responses to students\u2019 queries.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Chairperson of the Department of Criminology Professor Dr Naima Saeed said that students are the future and intellectual capital of any nation. She mentioned that through their abilities, awareness, and sense of responsibility, they can bring positive change to society.<\/p>\n

She remarked that if students adopt research, critical thinking, and ethical values, they can play an effective role not only in their own development but also in the reform of the entire society. She stressed that the younger generation must focus on character-building alongside education, and emerge as conscious, responsible, and active citizens.<\/p>\n

The Project Director Voice of Sindh and President Metro One Channel Dr Umair Haroon, CPLC East Director Abid Uzair, Deputy Chief CPLC District East Shabbar Raza, Deputy Chief I.T. Sindh Ali Haji, In-charge Law Department Tauheedullah Siddiqui, and the KU\u2019s Dean of Faculty of Law Barrister Muhammad Zeeshan Adhi, renowned journalist A. H. Khanzada while speaking at the seminar, emphasized that organizing such events is a vital need of the time, as they help highlight societal issues and explore effective solutions.<\/p>\n

They shed detailed light on the emerging challenges and the pivotal role of students in addressing them. The participants noted that youth are our most valuable asset, and through their abilities, determination, and positive mindset, they can overcome the challenges we face.<\/p>\n

They further stressed that holding intellectual and awareness-based sessions in educational institutions plays a crucial role in guiding society toward a positive direction.<\/p>\n
