Karachi<\/span><\/span> (HRNW) \u2013 The Sindh High Court<\/span><\/span> has reserved its decision on a petition challenging the sealing of an office and showroom by the Cantonment Board Clifton<\/span><\/span> (CBC).<\/p>\n

During the hearing, CBC\u2019s counsel argued that the showroom was sealed due to the presence of lithium batteries, stating that precautionary measures were being taken to prevent potential accidents in light of past incidents such as the Gul Plaza tragedy.<\/p>\n

The petitioner\u2019s lawyer contended that lithium batteries are widely used in solar power systems and electric vehicles, questioning whether CBC intended to seal every household using such batteries. The court observed that the premises appeared to have been sealed amid a dispute between two parties and questioned how many other shops had been sealed under similar grounds.<\/p>\n

In remarks during the hearing, the bench termed the logic of sealing the premises as unusual, noting that if safety was the sole concern, the batteries could have been relocated instead of shutting down an entire business.<\/p>\n
