The petition was heard by a constitutional bench of the high court.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">The petitioner, Tariq Khan, informed the court that he was recruited as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in 2016 under the martyr&#8217;s quota. However, he pointed out that subsequently, other individuals were appointed directly to the ranks of Inspector and even higher positions under the same quota. He argued that this constitutes clear discrimination and demanded that he either be promoted to a higher rank or that the other &#8220;preferential&#8221; appointments be reviewed.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">During the proceedings:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"4\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Government Stance:<\/b> The Additional Advocate General stated that the petitioner\u2019s own appointment appeared technically flawed, noting that ASI recruitments are typically processed through a commission.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Judicial Observation:<\/b> The court remarked to the petitioner, &#8220;Why are you putting your own job at risk?&#8221;
