UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged the United States and Russia to sign a new nuclear agreement as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
He said that the current agreement is ending at a time that can be called very worrying for international peace and security.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says that any arms control framework is incomplete without China’s participation.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that New START is the last link in the chain of nuclear arms control between the United States and Russia after the Cold War. If the agreement is terminated, both powers will be free from nuclear sanctions after half a century.<\/p>\n
The two countries have 87 percent of the world’s nuclear weapons. China is also preparing to increase its warhead count to 1,000 by 2030.<\/p>\n
