Karachi (HRNW)-<\/strong> Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab launched a scathing attack on the MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami, accusing both parties of treating Karachi as their personal property. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami, under the guise of fighting for the rights of a few, is depriving millions of citizens of their rights.<\/p>\n

He added that by organizing a protest of just a few hundred people on Shahrah-e-Faisal, they created serious inconvenience for hundreds of thousands of Karachi residents. He expressed gratitude to the Interior Minister for taking notice and registering an FIR against Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Munim Zafar.<\/p>\n

\u201cI say it openly \u2014 Jamaat-e-Islami leaders are hypocrites,\u201d Wahab said. He noted that nine Karachi towns are under Jamaat-e-Islami\u2019s control, yet instead of serving the public, they are indulging in protest politics.<\/p>\n

Referring to the Gul Plaza tragedy, the mayor lamented that neither the Prime Minister visited for condolences nor did Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal go to the site.<\/p>\n

Wahab extended an offer to the MQM, saying he is ready to play a role in getting PDWP approval for the Rs 20 billion development schemes funded by the federal government.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy only disagreement is on principle,\u201d he said. \u201cIf Mustafa Kamal, as city nazim, could utilize federal funds during his tenure, then why can\u2019t Murtaza Wahab do the same? Principles should be the same for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

He emphasized that 2026 is the year of Karachi\u2019s development<\/strong>, with infrastructure improvement projects worth Rs 46 billion currently underway across the city.<\/p>\n

Mayor Murtaza Wahab made these remarks while speaking to journalists at the inauguration of the newly reconstructed Ghalib Library<\/strong>, completed at a cost of Rs 150 million.<\/p>\n
