Prague (HRNW)- Slovak National Security Advisor Miroslav Laj\u010d\u00e1k has resigned from his post amid the fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, though he denied any wrongdoing. According to Reuters, Laj\u010d\u00e1k stepped down after new files related to the Epstein case emerged, including emails discussing girls.<\/p>\n
In a statement, he condemned Epstein\u2019s crimes and clarified that the email exchanges were general and informal, unrelated to any official duties. Laj\u010d\u00e1k emphasized that his resignation was intended to prevent the situation from politically affecting Prime Minister Robert Fico, stating, \u201cI am not resigning due to any criminal or immoral actions, but to shield the Prime Minister from undue political pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Fico confirmed on social media that he had accepted the resignation, praising Laj\u010d\u00e1k\u2019s extensive experience in diplomacy and foreign policy. It should be noted that the US Department of Justice recently released millions of documents related to the Epstein case, including emails from October 2018 when Laj\u010d\u00e1k was Slovakia\u2019s foreign minister.<\/p>\n
Miroslav Laj\u010d\u00e1k is a seasoned Slovak diplomat, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and served as President of the UN General Assembly from September 2017 to September 2018.<\/p>\n
