{"id":8175,"date":"2026-01-30T19:50:54","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T19:50:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hrnww.com\/?p=8175"},"modified":"2026-01-30T19:50:54","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T19:50:54","slug":"sindh-chief-minister-murad-ali-shah-vows-to-eradicate-polio-new-anti-polio-campaign-to-cover-over-10-5-million-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hrnww.com\/?p=8175","title":{"rendered":"Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah Vows to Eradicate Polio; New Anti-Polio Campaign to Cover Over 10.5 Million Children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Karachi (HRNW) \u2014 A meeting of the <strong>Sindh Polio Task Force<\/strong> was held under the chairmanship of <strong>Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah<\/strong>, attended by <strong>Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab<\/strong>, <strong>Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah<\/strong>, <strong>IG Police Javed Alam Odho<\/strong>, <strong>Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi<\/strong>, <strong>Secretary Local Government Waseem Shamshad<\/strong>, <strong>Secretary Education Zahid Abbasi<\/strong>, <strong>Secretary to CM Abdul Rahim Sheikh<\/strong>, <strong>Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan<\/strong>, <strong>Secretary Health Jamshed Memon<\/strong>, <strong>CEO PPHI Javed Jagirani<\/strong>, <strong>EOC Coordinator Shehryar Memon<\/strong>, <strong>DG Health Dr. Waqar<\/strong>, and all <strong>Deputy Commissioners<\/strong> of the province, among other senior officials.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that <strong>eradicating polio is a national duty<\/strong>, and despite the presence of the virus in some areas, <strong>the fight against polio must continue with full commitment<\/strong>. He emphasized the <strong>shared responsibility of parents, communities, media, and government<\/strong>, stressing that <strong>strengthening children\u2019s immunity is the key to defeating the virus effectively<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>He informed participants that <strong>Pakistan recorded 74 polio cases in 2024, 31 cases in 2025, and zero cases so far in 2026<\/strong>. In Sindh specifically, <strong>23 cases were reported in 2024, 9 in 2025, and zero in 2026<\/strong>, although <strong>environmental samples still indicate the presence of the virus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced that a <strong>new anti-polio campaign<\/strong> will be conducted from <strong>February 2 to 8<\/strong>, targeting <strong>10.5 million children<\/strong> across the province. The campaign will cover <strong>1,490 union councils in 30 districts<\/strong>, where teams will administer oral polio drops to <strong>children under five years of age<\/strong>. All <strong>Deputy Commissioners have been directed to monitor progress<\/strong> in their respective areas.<\/p>\n<p>More than <strong>80,000 polio workers<\/strong> will participate in the campaign, supported by <strong>21,000 police and Rangers personnel<\/strong> to ensure security.
