Under the original terms of the deal, US tariffs were to be capped at 15%, while Europe had expressed readiness to invest $600 billion in the US economy and purchase $750 billion worth of American energy.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">The rift deepened after President Trump threatened to impose a 10% additional tax on eight European NATO members, warning that the levy could rise to 25% by June if his demands are not met.
