Islamabad (HRNW)- Prolonged trade tensions in Pakistan are continuing to undermine investor confidence and cast uncertainty over the country\u2019s economic growth prospects. The persistent decline in exports and widening trade deficit indicate that there are some fundamental and structural weaknesses in the economy. Imports increased by 2 percent year-on-year to $6.02 billion in December, while they increased by 11.28 percent to $34.38 billion during July-December. As a result, the trade deficit reached $3.7 billion in December and $19.2 billion in the first half of the fiscal year.
