Karachi (HRNW) court has dismissed a petition at the preliminary stage<\/strong> seeking a ban on a film about Prophet Dawood (AS)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The petition was filed by citizen Abdul Razaq<\/strong> through advocate Faisal Ahmed<\/strong>, naming the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, PEMRA, the Film Censor Board<\/strong>, and other authorities as respondents. The petitioner argued that the animated film<\/strong> contradicts Islamic teachings and that Muslims who respect all prophets cannot tolerate its public screening.<\/p>\n

During the hearing, the court asked the petitioner to identify objectionable content<\/strong> in the film. Justice Yousaf Saeed<\/strong> questioned the lawyer, who confirmed that he had watched the film. The court remarked that if the lawyer himself has seen it, it is unreasonable to demand that others be prohibited from viewing it.<\/em><\/p>\n

The court also noted that the film is released on multiple platforms, not only in cinemas<\/strong>, and therefore rejected the petition at the initial stage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
