relatively low, but rising <strong>food prices toward the end of the year<\/strong> pushed inflation close to <strong>6 percent<\/strong>, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.<\/p>\n<p>Key highlights from the year include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sugar<\/strong> reached a maximum price of <strong>Rs. 229 per kg<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The price of a <strong>20-kg flour bag<\/strong> rose <strong>56.22%<\/strong>, from Rs. 1,794.93 last year to Rs. 2,199.25.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Live broiler chicken<\/strong> increased by <strong>3.8%<\/strong>, from Rs. 409.22 to Rs. 424.89 per kg.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beef<\/strong> rose from Rs. 1,026.85 to Rs. 1,160.46 per kg, while <strong>mutton<\/strong> went up <strong>7.4%<\/strong>, from Rs. 1,962.52 to Rs. 2,109.44.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jaggery<\/strong> increased <strong>12.5%<\/strong>, from Rs. 208.16 to Rs. 234.21.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bananas<\/strong> rose <strong>11.2%<\/strong>, from Rs. 119.5 to Rs. 132.43 per kg.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chili powder<\/strong> increased <strong>10.3%<\/strong>, from Rs. 320 to Rs. 352.99 per kg, and <strong>eggs<\/strong> went up <strong>9.7%<\/strong>, from Rs. 337.22 to Rs. 369.96.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Basmati rice<\/strong> increased <strong>5.5%<\/strong>, from Rs. 203.34 to Rs. 214.45 per kg.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Milk<\/strong> rose <strong>3.8%<\/strong> to Rs. 203.51 per liter, <strong>yogurt<\/strong> increased <strong>3.5%<\/strong> to Rs. 239.21, and <strong>2.5 kg ghee<\/strong> went up <strong>4.7%<\/strong>, from Rs. 1,465.14 to Rs. 1,533.55.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gas charges<\/strong> surged <strong>29.85%<\/strong>, while <strong>firewood<\/strong> rose <strong>11.02%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the other hand, some essentials saw significant price drops:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tomatoes<\/strong> fell <strong>75%<\/strong>, from Rs. 255 to Rs. 64.2 per kg.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Potatoes<\/strong> dropped <strong>50%<\/strong>, from Rs. 113.8 to Rs. 56.78 per kg.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Garlic<\/strong> became <strong>38% cheaper<\/strong>, from Rs. 688.64 to Rs. 425.81 per kg.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pulses<\/strong> like <strong>moong dal<\/strong> fell <strong>1%<\/strong>, <strong>masoor dal<\/strong> <strong>6.6%<\/strong>, <strong>chana dal<\/strong> <strong>30%<\/strong>, and <strong>moash dal<\/strong> <strong>13%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Onions<\/strong> fell <strong>29%<\/strong>, from Rs. 129.13 to Rs. 91.39 per kg.<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>190-gram tea packet<\/strong> became <strong>18% cheaper<\/strong>, and an <strong>18% price drop<\/strong> was recorded for 14-watt energy savers.<\/li>\n<li>The price of <strong>matchboxes<\/strong> remained stable at Rs. 6.24.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These figures highlight the <strong>mixed trend of inflation<\/strong>, with some food and energy items becoming
