Islamabad \u2013 Pakistan (HRNW)<\/a>– <\/strong>The Islamabad High Court<\/strong> has issued a landmark written judgment in the degree verification case of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri<\/strong>. The decision, authored by Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan<\/strong>, spans three pages and addresses the irregularities in his educational credentials.<\/p>\n

The court found that Tariq Jahangiri failed to provide valid responses or produce verifiable educational documents<\/strong> despite multiple opportunities. No reasonable justification<\/strong> was presented by him.<\/p>\n

Key findings of the judgment include:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Eligibility for a High Court judge is personal and non-transferable<\/strong>, and holding the qualifications prescribed in the Constitution is mandatory<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • At the time of his appointment as Additional Judge<\/strong> in Islamabad High Court, Jahangiri did not possess a valid and recognized LLB degree<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Similarly, at the time of his confirmation as a permanent judge<\/strong>, he still lacked the required credentials<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Since he was not eligible to practice law<\/strong>, he could not lawfully hold the position of High Court judge under Article 175-A<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • His appointment and subsequent promotion were deemed illegal and beyond lawful authority<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    As a result, the court immediately removed Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri from his position as High Court judge<\/strong> and directed the Ministry of Law and Justice<\/strong> to de-notify him without delay<\/strong>. A copy of the judgment was ordered to be sent to the Ministry immediately.<\/p>\n

    Additionally, the court disposed of all pending miscellaneous petitions<\/strong> related to the matter.<\/p>\n

    This ruling reinforces the principle that constitutional qualifications for judicial office are non-negotiable<\/strong>, ensuring accountability and integrity within Pakistan\u2019s judiciary.<\/p>\n
