Karachi (HRNW)<\/a>\u2013<\/strong> Pakistan Rangers (Sindh), in coordination with the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Karachi Police<\/strong>, conducted a joint operation based on intelligence reports, leading to the arrest of seven suspects<\/strong> involved in extortion activities linked to the Jamil Changa and Samad Kathiawari groups<\/strong> in Central and South City districts of Karachi.<\/p>\n

The arrested individuals include Parvez alias Powa, Asghar Ali, Shakeel Ahmed alias Comrade, Faizan alias Limbo, Mohammad Zubair alias Chotu<\/strong>, who were apprehended in a wounded condition<\/strong>, along with Mohammad Sabra<\/strong> and Mohammad Umar alias Afshani Baloch<\/strong>. Weapons and ammunition<\/strong> were recovered from their possession.<\/p>\n

According to officials, the suspects operated under the directives of criminal leaders Jamil Changa, Osama Jamil, and Abdul Samad Kathiawari<\/strong>, targeting factory owners, shopkeepers, builders, ongoing construction projects, and restaurants to collect extortion money<\/strong>. The group was known to issue threats and open fire in cases where extortion demands were not met.<\/p>\n

Investigations revealed that in October 2025<\/strong>, the gang opened fire on Jeddah Barbecue fast food shop<\/strong> in Nazimabad after the owner refused to pay extortion. CCTV footage from the incident clearly shows the suspects in action.<\/p>\n

Recovered extortion money was reportedly illegally transferred abroad<\/strong> to leaders Jamil Changa, Samad Kathiawari, and Osama Jamil<\/strong>. Officials stated that the suspects are habitual criminals<\/strong> with multiple FIRs registered against them for extortion and attempted murder at different police stations across Karachi. Investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n

The Rangers have appealed to the public<\/strong> to assist in preventing crime by reporting information about such criminal elements immediately to the nearest Rangers checkpoint<\/strong>, Rangers Helpline 1101<\/strong>, or Rangers Madadgar WhatsApp number 0347-9001111<\/strong>. Informants\u2019 identities will be kept strictly confidential.<\/p>\n
