{"id":3807,"date":"2025-12-14T10:45:04","date_gmt":"2025-12-14T10:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hrnww.com\/?p=3807"},"modified":"2025-12-14T16:26:19","modified_gmt":"2025-12-14T16:26:19","slug":"sindh-chief-minister-conducts-surprise-inspection-of-karachi-brt-red-line-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hrnww.com\/?p=3807","title":{"rendered":"Sindh Chief Minister Conducts Surprise Inspection of Karachi BRT Red Line Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Karachi<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrnww.com\/\">(HRNW)<\/a>\u2014 Sindh Chief Minister <strong>Syed Murad Ali Shah<\/strong> paid a surprise visit to Karachi to review progress on the <strong>BRT Red Line project from Malir Cantt to Numaish<\/strong>, describing it as a <strong>strategic and transformative public transport initiative<\/strong> of the Sindh government.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit, the Chief Minister stated that <strong>development projects will bring a major economic and social transformation to Karachi<\/strong>, emphasizing that the <strong>BRT Red Line aims to provide fast, safe, modern, and environmentally friendly transport facilities<\/strong> to citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>There will be no compromise on the quality of development projects,<\/strong>\u201d Murad Ali Shah said, adding that the Pakistan Peoples Party has fulfilled its promise of <strong>safe, efficient, and dignified public transport for every resident of Karachi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>He highlighted that the project includes <strong>flyovers, underpasses, modern bus stations, service roads, drainage systems, and landscaping<\/strong>, calling each component \u201ca gift for the public.\u201d According to him, the project will significantly <strong>reduce traffic congestion, improve mobility, and revolutionize daily urban life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Project Briefing and Progress<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Officials briefed the Chief Minister that the <strong>BRT Red Line corridor consists of two lots<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lot One:<\/strong> Numaish\/Meteorological Department to Malir Halt (9.65 km)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lot Two:<\/strong> 12.85 km long<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lot One includes <strong>seven modern bus stations<\/strong>:<br \/>\nKings Cottage, Safora, Race Course, Malir Cantt, Tank Chowk, Model Colony, and <strong>Tipu Sultan Station<\/strong> (added as an additional facility).<\/p>\n<p>The project also comprises:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Three underpasses:<\/strong> Hydrant, Tipu Sultan, and Safora<\/li>\n<li><strong>Two flyovers:<\/strong> Kings Cottage Flyover and Safora Flyover (Leg 1 &amp; 2)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Two bus depots:<\/strong> Malir Halt Depot and Meteorological Department \/ Bagh-e-Karachi Depot<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The total cost of <strong>Lot One exceeds PKR 13.79 billion<\/strong>, with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Phase One (construction):<\/strong> PKR 12.81 billion<\/li>\n<li><strong>Phase Two (long-term maintenance):<\/strong> PKR 970 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Construction progress includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kings Cottage Flyover: 50% complete<\/li>\n<li>Safora Flyover: 60% complete<\/li>\n<li>Tipu Sultan Underpass: Completed<\/li>\n<li>Hydrant Underpass: 77% complete<\/li>\n<li>BRT rigid pavement: 65\u201395% complete at various locations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Overall project completion currently stands at <strong>36.01%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Officials cited <strong>heavy rains, utility relocation issues, design changes, and site unavailability from Tank Chowk to Airport Signal<\/strong> as reasons for delays.
