Karachi (HRNW)<\/a><\/strong> \u2014 Sindh\u2019s Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon<\/strong> has announced the upcoming release of a new film titled \u201cMera Lyari\u201d<\/strong>, aimed at highlighting the true culture, peace, resilience, and talent of Lyari<\/strong>, one of Karachi\u2019s most historic neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

The announcement comes in response to the Indian film Dhurandhar<\/em><\/strong>, which, according to Sindh government officials, presents Lyari and Pakistan in a negative and misleading manner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter)<\/strong> account, Sharjeel Memon said:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Indian film Dhurandhar<\/em> is yet another example of negative propaganda against Pakistan, particularly Lyari. Lyari is not violence; it is a symbol of culture, peace, talent, and courage. Mera Lyari<\/em> will be released next month and will present Lyari\u2019s real identity \u2014 one of peace, prosperity, and pride.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to the minister, the film\u2019s core objective is to portray Lyari as a center of culture, harmony, and resilience<\/strong>, while offering a strong and positive counter-narrative to the portrayal shown in Dhurandhar<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Cultural experts and human rights advocates have long emphasized the importance of accurate representation of marginalized communities<\/strong>, warning that distorted depictions can fuel prejudice, discrimination, and social exclusion.<\/p>\n
