These landscapes remind us that the spirit of the mountains lives not only in the Himalayas but also in the heart of Sindh.<\/p>\n

Rising 5,688 feet (1,734 meters)<\/strong> above sea level, Gorakh Hill<\/strong> stands tall in the Kirthar Range<\/strong>, near the Sindh\u2013Balochistan border in Dadu District. Often called the \u201cMurree of Sindh,\u201d<\/em> Gorakh offers a cool and tranquil escape from the province\u2019s dry plains. In summer, temperatures hover between 20\u201325 \u00b0C<\/strong>, while winter nights bring a touch of frost \u2014 and sometimes even snowfall \u2014 a rare sight in southern Pakistan.<\/p>\n

The name \u201cGorakh\u201d carries deep historical and spiritual roots \u2014 some trace it to the ancient Hindu mystic Gorakhnath<\/strong>, while others connect it to local words meaning \u201cshepherd\u201d<\/em> or \u201cmountain of the herds.\u201d<\/em>
\nFor centuries, this region has been a place of reflection, harmony, and connection with nature.<\/p>\n

Sindh\u2019s mountains are not just geological marvels \u2014 they are living ecosystems rich in minerals, history, and biodiversity<\/strong>. The Karoonjhar Hills<\/strong> in Tharparkar, for instance, are both beautiful and resource-rich, holding immense cultural and environmental value. Sadly, unregulated mining and stone-cutting have damaged the area, endangering wildlife, plants, and local communities.
