Authorities also accused him of participating in activities against national security and communicating online to organise what they described as “anti-security” activities.

Jamshidi was sentenced to death on charges including moharebeh, commonly translated as “enmity against God,” along with assembly and collusion against national security. Iran’s Supreme Court upheld the sentence following an appeal, according to the judiciary.

Iranian authorities cited officers’ reports, witness statements, messages attributed to Jamshidi and what they described as his confession as evidence in the case. Official reports did not identify anyone who was killed or injured in the alleged shooting.

The execution has drawn criticism from human-rights organisations. Iran Human Rights said Jamshidi is the 32nd person executed in connection with the December 2025–January 2026 protests and reported that more than 100 protesters remain at risk of execution. The organisation has also raised concerns over due process, alleged torture and forced confessions in protest-related death-penalty cases.

Jamshidi’s execution follows the reported executions of Ali Hemmati Sistani and Majid Nikandish in Mashhad on September 30, both of whom were detained in connection with the January protests.

The latest execution comes amid continued international scrutiny of Iran’s treatment of protesters and the use of capital punishment in cases arising from the nationwide demonstrations. Iranian authorities maintain that individuals convicted of violence or attacks on security personnel are being punished under the country’s laws.

Support HRNW’s independent journalism and humanitarian reporting.
Donate now: www.hrnww.com/?page_id=1083

Shahrekord (HRNW)- Iranian authorities have executed Siavash Jamshidi Kheirabadi, a man detained during January’s nationwide protests and convicted of charges including allegedly firing at security forces, according to Iran’s judiciary.
