Peshawar (HRNW)- Security forces have killed seven militants during an intelligence-based operation in the Eidak area of North Waziristan, according to security sources. The operation was conducted as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative.

Security sources said the forces tracked the militants and conducted a targeted operation, during which several militant hideouts were also destroyed. Authorities said the operation had further restricted the militants’ ability to operate in the area.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the operation, saying the action demonstrated their professional capabilities and the country’s resolve to combat terrorism. He said operations against militant elements would continue.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the security forces and described the seven militants killed in the operation as Indian-sponsored terrorists. That characterization is an allegation by the Pakistani authorities and has not been independently established in the reports reviewed.

President Asif Ali Zardari also praised the operation and said efforts under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative to eliminate terrorism and establish lasting peace were commendable.

The latest operation comes as security forces continue counterterrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in districts affected by militant activity.
