Islamabad (HRNW)-\u00a0Pakistan\u2019s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected allegations by Afghanistan\u2019s Taliban authorities linking Pakistani security forces and intelligence agencies to reported clashes in Nuristan province, describing the claims as baseless.<\/p>\n
In a statement posted on social media, the ministry categorically denied any Pakistani involvement in internal clashes in Nuristan or elsewhere in Afghanistan. It also rejected allegations that Pakistan had recruited or trained former Afghan security personnel or facilitated Daesh or other militant groups operating in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
The ministry said no verifiable evidence had been presented to support the allegations, including identities, documents, communications, forensic material, or independent verification. It also questioned the evidentiary value of a video circulating on social media that was presented as support for the allegations.<\/p>\n
The Afghan Taliban\u2019s Ministry of Defence had alleged that fighters, including people affiliated with Islamic State, crossed into Kamdesh district of Nuristan from Pakistan with support from Pakistani authorities. Afghan officials said 28 fighters were killed and 32 others captured during the reported operation.<\/p>\n
Pakistan has rejected that account and said terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory remain a security concern for Pakistan and the wider region. Islamabad has urged the Taliban authorities to take verifiable action against militant organizations operating from Afghanistan and to prevent Afghan territory from being used for attacks against other countries.<\/p>\n
The dispute comes amid rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, following cross-border attacks, Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan, and competing accusations over militant activity. Reuters reported that Pakistan said its September 21 airstrikes killed 28 militants, while Afghan authorities and the United Nations reported civilian casualties.<\/p>\n
The latest exchange of accusations adds to ongoing diplomatic and security tensions between Islamabad and Kabul, with both sides continuing to dispute responsibility for militant activity and violence along the border.<\/p>\n
