Riyadh (HRNW)-\u00a0The military chiefs of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and T\u00fcrkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to collective defence and closer military cooperation under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, following a meeting in Riyadh.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by Pakistan\u2019s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Saudi Arabia\u2019s Chief of General Staff Gen. Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, and T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Chief of General Staff Gen. Sel\u00e7uk Bayraktaro\u011flu. The three military chiefs discussed ways to strengthen coordination among their armed forces.<\/p>\n
According to Pakistan\u2019s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the discussions included enhanced intelligence sharing, military coordination, and integration of defence capabilities. The participants said these measures would strengthen collective defence and deterrence.<\/p>\n
The military chiefs also reviewed the security situation facing Saudi Arabia and strongly condemned attacks targeting Makkah as well as civilian and economic infrastructure in the Kingdom. They commended the Saudi armed forces for measures aimed at protecting civilians and maintaining the country\u2019s security.<\/p>\n
The three sides emphasized the longstanding relations and mutual trust between their countries and armed forces. They also expressed a shared determination to translate commitments under the Makkah agreement into practical military cooperation.<\/p>\n
The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and T\u00fcrkiye on August 7, states that an armed attack against one of the three signatories will be considered an attack against all three. The agreement was established to strengthen collective security and defence cooperation.<\/p>\n
The latest meeting comes amid heightened regional security tensions and an increase in Houthi attacks affecting Saudi territory and critical infrastructure. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and T\u00fcrkiye had already discussed implementing the agreement and increasing security coordination in response to the changing regional situation.<\/p>\n
The military chiefs\u2019 meeting in Riyadh marks a further step in efforts to establish practical mechanisms for cooperation under the Makkah agreement, while the three countries continue consultations over regional security and collective defence.<\/p>\n
