PORT SUDAN, SUDAN (HRNW)<\/strong> \u2014 M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8res (MSF) has warned that international humanitarian funding cuts are contributing to the closure of medical facilities across Sudan, leaving millions of people with fewer options for essential healthcare.<\/p>\n

MSF said humanitarian funding reductions are taking place while Sudan’s war continues to drive major health needs across the country.<\/p>\n

The organization said the withdrawal of international funding is affecting an already chronically underfunded health response.<\/p>\n

According to MSF, clinics are closing in several parts of Sudan, forcing patients to travel longer and potentially more dangerous distances to obtain medical treatment.<\/p>\n

The organization said remaining hospitals are consequently facing increased pressure as patients from closed facilities seek alternative care.<\/p>\n

MSF said the impact is particularly serious because humanitarian needs have continued to rise during the conflict.<\/p>\n

The organization emphasized that its own operations are privately funded but said cuts affecting other humanitarian and health providers are creating indirect pressures on MSF services.<\/p>\n

These pressures include increased numbers of patients, shortages in supplies, higher operational costs and gaps in referral systems and coordination.<\/p>\n

MSF is calling on governments and institutional donors to protect funding for essential health services.<\/p>\n

The organization has also called for flexible transitional financing when medical facilities face the risk of closure.<\/p>\n

The funding crisis comes as Sudan continues to experience widespread displacement, conflict-related injuries, disease outbreaks and other humanitarian needs.<\/p>\n

MSF said reduced humanitarian capacity can have consequences beyond individual clinic closures because fewer facilities are available to provide referrals and specialized treatment.<\/p>\n

The organization is warning that the continued reduction of humanitarian support could place additional strain on hospitals that remain operational.<\/p>\n

MSF said international assistance is needed to maintain essential healthcare services while the conflict continues.<\/p>\n

The organization is urging donors to consider the consequences of funding reductions on civilians who depend on humanitarian medical services.<\/p>\n
