Islamabad (HRNW)-\u00a0Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC), Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, has introduced a 10-minute time limit for lawyers\u2019 arguments, with a stopwatch installed in the courtroom to help expedite the disposal of cases. The development was reported on September 24, 2026.<\/p>\n
Under the new arrangement, each lawyer is allotted up to 10 minutes to present arguments. The stopwatch begins signaling when the allotted time expires, according to the report.<\/p>\n
The measure has been introduced as part of efforts to make court proceedings more efficient and facilitate the quicker resolution of cases. The Federal Constitutional Court has also emphasized the use of modern technology and improved case-management systems to strengthen institutional performance.<\/p>\n
Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan has previously stressed the importance of strengthening access to justice, institutional capacity, and the effective use of technology in the Federal Constitutional Court. The court was established in 2025 following the 27th Constitutional Amendment.<\/p>\n
The introduction of a fixed time limit for oral arguments is expected to help the court manage hearings more efficiently and reduce delays in the disposal of cases.<\/p>\n
