KARACHI (HRNW)-<\/strong> As part of its ongoing film festival, the Consulate General of Japan in Karachi screened the inspiring film, \u201cBishu \u2014 the World\u2019s Kindest Clothes\u201d, at the main auditorium of Hamdard University on Tuesday.
\nA packed audience of students, faculty and staff watched the film with rapt attention, with many applauding towards the end.
\nThe film follows Shiori Kamiya, a shy yet talented girl who struggles in her daily life after losing her mother. Reserved and socially withdrawn, she finds solace in a single close friendship.
\nHer father, a textile factory owner, becomes overprotective after his wife\u2019s death. As his business begins to decline, Shiori wishes to help, but he refuses to let her take on responsibility. She also faces ridicule at school, compounding her difficulties.
\nDespite these challenges, Shiori\u2019s creativity shines through. One day, she conceives a striking dress design and sketches it with precision. Encouraged by her friend, she enters and wins a school design competition, prompting her to aim higher at the national level.
\nPreparing for the national competition requires her to produce the fabric and stitch the garment herself. When her sister \u2014 initially meant to model the dress \u2014 is injured just before the event, Shiori must overcome her shyness and step forward under pressure.
\nUltimately, the film highlights that talent flourishes when recognised, and that determination can transform even the most difficult circumstances into opportunities for success.
\nThe Japanese film festival began in the first week of this month and will end on Sept 29 after screening movies at five university campuses in Karachi. Ends<\/p>\n
