Islamabad (HRNW) \u2014<\/strong> The Federal Constitutional Court has admitted for regular hearing a petition seeking to invalidate the election of Sohail Afridi as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.<\/p>\n

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan heard the petition filed by Sher Afzal Marwat.<\/p>\n

Appearing in person, Marwat argued that a chief minister resigns voluntarily, whereas Ali Amin Gandapur did not resign of his own free will but was allegedly made to step down at the direction of the convicted founder of PTI.<\/p>\n

He further argued that the Supreme Court has already held that a disqualified person cannot run state affairs.<\/p>\n

The admission of the petition for regular hearing means the constitutional and legal questions raised by the petitioner will now be examined by the court in further proceedings.<\/p>\n
