According to Iranian media outlet Entekhab News<\/em>, Iranian MP Hossein Ali Haji-Deligani said a \u201ctriple-urgency\u201d bill seeking Iran\u2019s withdrawal from the NPT has been drafted and secured signatures from a number of lawmakers. If approved by the parliament\u2019s presiding board, the bill could be presented for a vote.<\/p>\n Haji-Deligani also called for Iran to conduct the necessary tests for developing nuclear weapons, arguing that the current regional and international security environment makes acquiring a nuclear deterrent an imperative for the country.<\/p>\n Other Iranian lawmakers have also questioned the continued relevance of the NPT. Mohsen Sani, a member of the National Security Commission, said the treaty no longer holds significance for Iran and called for a review of the country\u2019s uranium enrichment policy.
