Lahore (HRNW)-\u00a0Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has called for consensus on the creation of new provinces, while strongly criticizing the PPP\u2019s position on the issue of dividing Sindh. He said no attempt to promote the concept of a separate Sindh state would be tolerated and stressed that Pakistan\u2019s sovereignty and national unity must be protected.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a press conference at Faisal Chowk on Mall Road, Lahore, Hafiz Naeem criticized the PPP over governance in Sindh and alleged that the party had failed to adequately address public issues, including education and development. He also criticized PPP leadership over their lifestyles and policies in the province.<\/p>\n
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief warned that if the party\u2019s demands were not accepted, the JI would expand its protest campaign through wheel-jam and shutter-down strikes, closure of petrol pumps and potentially a long march towards Islamabad. He said the protests were aimed at providing relief to people facing inflation and difficulties accessing education, healthcare and other basic facilities.<\/p>\n
Hafiz Naeem also criticized the petroleum levy, calling it a \u201cJaga Tax,\u201d and questioned the government over the use of revenue collected through petroleum products. On Defence and Martyrs Day, he paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan\u2019s armed forces and said institutions should operate within their respective constitutional limits.<\/p>\n
