Karachi (HRNW)-\u00a0The Sindh cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, has approved additional subsidies and incentives for wheat farmers who sell their produce to the government under the Rabi 2026-27 support program.<\/p>\n
The cabinet reviewed subsidies on DAP fertilizer and targeted assistance for small wheat farmers owning up to 25 acres. The federal government has proposed a subsidy of Rs 3,500 per DAP fertilizer sack, against an expected retail price of Rs 17,904.<\/p>\n
Under the new mechanism, farmers supplying wheat to the Food Department will receive additional incentives, while other eligible small farmers will also be included in the support program. New farmers will be registered, while previously registered beneficiaries will undergo digital verification of land and ownership to eliminate fake, ineligible and duplicate registrations.<\/p>\n
The Sindh government said previous DAP and urea subsidy programs benefited hundreds of thousands of farmers and contributed to increased wheat production during 2025-26. The cabinet also reviewed the minimum support price mechanism for the upcoming wheat crop and directed that recommendations of the relevant sub-committee be incorporated.<\/p>\n
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed officials to ensure that the subsidy program is transparent, technology-based and focused on genuine farmers, with priority given to small growers to strengthen food security.<\/p>\n
