Riyadh (HRNW)-\u00a0Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey and other Arab and Muslim countries have strongly rejected Israel\u2019s plan to build new Jewish settlements in the sensitive E-1 area of the occupied West Bank, calling for an immediate halt to the project.<\/p>\n
According to Arab News, foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar and Egypt issued a joint statement opposing the E-1 settlement project. They warned that the plan could undermine the territorial integrity of the occupied Palestinian territories and disrupt connectivity between the West Bank and East Jerusalem.<\/p>\n
The countries said the project threatens the possibility of establishing an independent, contiguous and viable Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders. They also said the settlement plan contradicts US President Donald Trump\u2019s stated efforts to prevent the annexation of the West Bank and promote regional stability.<\/p>\n
The ministers condemned Israel\u2019s broader settlement policies and settler violence against Palestinians, urging the international community to impose sanctions on individuals and entities involved in illegal settlement activities.<\/p>\n
The E-1 plan reportedly includes around 3,400 residential units across approximately 12 square kilometers, while Israel has recently issued tenders for 1,234 additional homes in the area.<\/p>\n
