Tehran (HRNW)-\u00a0Tensions between Iran and the United States continue to rise amid a stalemate over extending the ceasefire and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, with Iranian officials strongly criticizing Washington\u2019s position.<\/p>\n
According to the International News Agency, mediation efforts to advance ceasefire negotiations have so far failed to produce a meeting between the leaders of Iran and the United States. Meanwhile, increasingly harsh statements from political and military officials on both sides have added to the uncertainty.<\/p>\n
Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, an adviser to Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, criticized US President Donald Trump over his threats of further economic sanctions against Tehran. Naqdi described Trump as narrow-minded, childish and lacking a long-term vision.<\/p>\n
The Iranian general also called Trump unreliable, arguing that his statements lack consistency and cannot provide a dependable basis for future agreements. He said Iran should not trust verbal promises that are not supported by clear and enforceable guarantees.<\/p>\n
Naqdi further claimed that the United States had failed to achieve its objectives in the conflict, including efforts to change Iran\u2019s government or divide the country.<\/p>\n
