Tehran (HRNW)-\u00a0Iran\u2019s annual inflation rate has reached 66 percent, intensifying the financial pressure on ordinary citizens as the cost of essential goods and household expenses continues to rise.<\/p>\n
According to the Iranian Labor News Agency, citing official data from Iran\u2019s Statistical Center, prices in July were 87.9 percent higher than during the same month last year. Food and beverage prices recorded a particularly sharp increase of 128.1 percent, while the prices of at least eight basic goods more than doubled. Monthly inflation stood at 3.1 percent in July.<\/p>\n
Rising prices have pushed the estimated minimum monthly expenses of a working-class Iranian family to around 90 million tomans, while the monthly minimum wage is approximately 25 million tomans. This means the minimum wage covers only about one-quarter of basic household expenses.<\/p>\n
Labor activist Farmarz Toufiqi said many workers are able to cover expenses for only around eight days with their monthly income, leaving them struggling financially for the remainder of the month.<\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s economy is already under pressure from international sanctions and continuing regional conflicts, further worsening the cost-of-living crisis and making it increasingly difficult for ordinary people to meet their basic needs.<\/p>\n
