Karachi (HRNW):<\/strong> While the government is conferring national awards on individuals for their contributions in various fields, there are also people whose quiet and selfless services deserve recognition at the national level.<\/p>\n

Waliullah Maroof<\/strong> has made remarkable efforts to reunite missing and separated people with their families, not only in Pakistan but around the world. Meanwhile, Teacher Usman<\/strong> has remained actively engaged in raising awareness and taking action against climate change and environmental degradation.<\/p>\n

Certainly, neither of these individuals is dependent on awards; their real recognition lies in the work they have done for people and society. However, had such national awards been placed on their chests, perhaps the prestige and value of those awards themselves would have increased.<\/p>\n

National awards are intended to recognize exceptional service, sacrifice and achievement for the country and humanity. Therefore, merit, public service, human rights, environmental protection and genuine national contributions<\/strong> should remain central to the selection process.<\/p>\n

HRNW believes that national awards should represent service, integrity and exceptional contribution to society.<\/strong> If the selection process creates a perception that recommendations, political influence or personal connections matter more than merit, it can discourage deserving citizens and undermine public confidence in the awards system.<\/p>\n

Pakistan needs a transparent and merit-based system that recognizes people who genuinely serve humanity, society and the environment\u2014especially those who continue their work without seeking fame or recognition.<\/p>\n
