KARACHI (HRNW)<\/strong> \u2014 MQM-P leader Syed Mustafa Kamal<\/strong> has renewed his call for the creation of additional administrative units, arguing that the move would not divide Sindh but would instead promote administrative devolution and greater public empowerment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Kamal said that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi<\/strong> and the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) have also spoken about the need for administrative units. He claimed that after the Pakistan Peoples Party did not accept his party\u2019s position, MQM-P had intensified its demand for the creation of additional administrative divisions.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that Karachi remained Pakistan\u2019s capital until 1966<\/strong> and currently accounts for approximately 38 percent of Sindh\u2019s population<\/strong>, while Hyderabad represents around 5 percent<\/strong> of the province\u2019s population.<\/p>\n

Despite Karachi\u2019s large population, Kamal argued that its residents do not have sufficient political authority to choose or change their chief executive, saying that the existing system does not provide them with adequate administrative control.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have not surrendered before those who oppress us,\u201d Kamal said, reiterating his party\u2019s position on greater administrative empowerment.<\/p>\n

He also referred to the distribution of federal resources among the provinces and criticized the existing governance structure, arguing that the system fails to adequately empower citizens.<\/p>\n

Kamal stressed that the proposal should not be viewed as the division of Sindh<\/strong>, but as an administrative restructuring aimed at improving governance. He also criticized the PPP over its position on the 26th and 27th Constitutional Amendments<\/strong>, alleging that the party blocked constitutional changes due to political considerations.<\/p>\n
