Lahore (HRNW)-\u00a0The Punjab government has approved the abolition of 101 posts across various provincial administrative departments, including the South Punjab Secretariat, as part of measures to reduce administrative expenditure and reorganize government departments.<\/p>\n
Following the approval, the Additional Chief Secretary Punjab issued a formal notification abolishing the posts. The decision was taken in light of the Finance Department\u2019s decision dated July 31, 2026.<\/p>\n
Among the province\u2019s central administrative departments, the School Education Department saw the highest number of abolished posts, with six positions removed. Five posts each were abolished in the Finance, Health and Population, Home, and Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Departments.<\/p>\n
At the Chief Minister\u2019s Office Punjab, three Section Officer posts were abolished, while three posts were removed from the Local Government and Community Development Department. Two posts each were abolished in several departments, including Agriculture, Communications and Works, Energy, Excise, Food Safety, Higher Education and Irrigation.<\/p>\n
The Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department and the Planning and Development Board also abolished two posts each. One post each was removed from the Environment Protection, Industries, Information and Culture, Literacy, Livestock, Mines and Minerals, Public Prosecution, Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal, and Women Development departments.<\/p>\n
Several Section Officer positions were also abolished in the South Punjab Secretariat. The Health and Population Department saw the highest reduction there, with eight posts abolished, while four posts each were removed from the Finance, Higher Education and School Education departments.<\/p>\n
Three posts were abolished in the Irrigation and Local Government departments, while two posts each were removed from the Agriculture, Communication and Construction, Forests and Wildlife, Livestock, Planning and Development, and Services and General Administration departments.<\/p>\n
Similarly, two posts were abolished in the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, while one post each was removed from the Home and Housing departments of the South Punjab Secretariat.<\/p>\n
According to the notification, the concerned departments have been informed of the decision and directed to complete the necessary further action.<\/p>\n
