Washington (HRNW)-\u00a0The United States has announced new sanctions against Iran, targeting six entities and one individual allegedly linked to Iranian efforts to evade financial restrictions.<\/p>\n
According to media reports, the latest US measures also target two major digital asset and cryptocurrency exchange platforms, which Washington accuses of helping the Iranian government maintain access to the international financial system.<\/p>\n
US officials said the targeted networks were allegedly being used to circumvent financial sanctions and facilitate the transfer of funds connected to Iran.<\/p>\n
Washington also linked the latest measures to Iran’s response to actions involving commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, amid continuing tensions between the two countries.<\/p>\n
The new sanctions are part of the US government’s ongoing “maximum economic pressure” campaign against Iran, aimed at restricting Tehran’s access to international financial markets and limiting its ability to generate and transfer funds.<\/p>\n
Under the sanctions, assets belonging to designated individuals and entities that fall under US jurisdiction may be frozen, while US citizens and companies are prohibited from conducting business with the sanctioned parties.<\/p>\n
The latest measures come as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high over Iran’s nuclear program, maritime security, and developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
