According to a statement issued by CENTCOM, these actions are part of ongoing US naval operations in the Strait of Hormuz and other key regional shipping lanes aimed at enforcing maritime sanctions imposed against Iran.<\/p>\n
The statement said that the US Navy and its allied forces are continuously monitoring regional sea lanes and tracking the movements of commercial vessels passing through the area.<\/p>\n
CENTCOM stated that, to date, 44 merchant vessels have been diverted to alternative routes, two ships have been disabled, and two additional vessels have been boarded by US personnel as part of the operation.<\/p>\n
