Islamabad (HRNW)-\u00a0Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Nadeem Afzal Chan has alleged that the party is being treated unfairly in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, claiming that the electoral process resembles an “Ultra Form 47.”<\/p>\n
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Nadeem Afzal Chan said the non-arrival of ballot papers at polling stations in Muzaffarabad and the prevailing law and order situation had raised serious concerns. He warned that unless the situation was corrected, the PPP would not accept or ratify the election results.<\/p>\n
He said the entire world was observing the AJK elections and urged the authorities to ensure a transparent electoral process. According to Chan, there appeared to be an attempt to manipulate the elections to benefit a particular political party, alleging that similar irregularities had also occurred during the first phase of polling.<\/p>\n
The PPP leader said there had been strong internal support within the party for boycotting the second and third phases of the elections, but the party leadership decided against such a move.<\/p>\n
He stated that the alleged irregularities would strengthen the position of those questioning the credibility of the electoral process, adding that the PPP was contesting elections to uphold democratic values rather than merely win seats.<\/p>\n
Nadeem Afzal Chan emphasized that the party believes in bringing change through the ballot box rather than violence, saying the PPP was presenting evidence instead of making baseless allegations.<\/p>\n
He further claimed that major electoral contests were also taking place in Sialkot and Jhang, expressing concerns over the fairness of those elections and asserting that the PPP would continue to compete politically without backing down.<\/p>\n
