Karachi (HRNW)-\u00a0More than 33,500 candidates from across Sindh will compete for 5,100 MBBS and BDS seats in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), which will be held on Sunday, August 16, at designated examination centers across the province.<\/p>\n
The MDCAT examination in Sindh will be conducted under the Sukkur IBA Testing Service. According to Sukkur IBA Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Asif Sheikh, a total of 33,500-plus candidates will participate in the test, including 20,934 female students and more than 12,600 male students.<\/p>\n
According to Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) Vice Chancellor Dr. Siraj Memon, 5,100 seats have been allocated for medical education in Sindh, comprising 2,300 MBBS seats and 2,800 BDS seats, including all quota-based admissions. This year, the responsibility for the admissions process has been assigned to Jinnah Sindh Medical University.<\/p>\n
Dr. Asif Sheikh said that 10,661 candidates will appear for the MDCAT in Karachi, including 8,186 female students and 2,475 male students. In Hyderabad, 9,470 candidates will participate, including 5,287 female students and 4,183 male students.<\/p>\n
He added that 3,066 candidates will appear in Larkana, 2,067 in Mirpurkhas, 2,511 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 5,462 in Sukkur, while a special examination center has also been established in Islamabad for 300 candidates.<\/p>\n
The Karachi test center has been established at NED University, where a banquet hall adjacent to the university has been arranged for parents. Candidates have been instructed to reach their examination centers by 6:30 am, while the test will begin at 10:00 am.<\/p>\n
The three-hour MCQ-based examination will carry 180 marks. The minimum qualifying score for MBBS admission will be 55 percent, while 50 percent will be required for BDS admission. There will be no negative marking.<\/p>\n
The Sukkur IBA Vice Chancellor further stated that the answer key will be uploaded after the examination. To ensure transparency, candidates will receive a carbon copy of their answer sheet to retain, while the results are expected to be announced by August 22.<\/p>\n
