Tel Aviv \/ South Lebanon (HRNW)-\u00a0Israeli Army Chief General Eyal Zamir has said that Israeli forces will not withdraw from the occupied areas of southern Lebanon until Israel’s long-term security is fully ensured, warning that military operations could be expanded if necessary.<\/p>\n
According to the Israeli military, General Eyal Zamir visited Israeli-controlled positions in southern Lebanon, where he met with troops and reviewed the prevailing security situation.<\/p>\n
During the visit, he said the Israeli army has established control over several areas in southern Lebanon and is continuing operations to dismantle what it described as military infrastructure and installations.<\/p>\n
Eyal Zamir stated that if Israel\u2019s security requirements demand it, the military is prepared to expand its operations into additional areas. He added that Israeli forces will remain in the occupied territories until they are confident that no future threat to Israel\u2019s security exists.<\/p>\n
