Tehran (HRNW)-\u00a0Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baqai has said that an active exchange of messages is continuing between Iran and the United States, but accused Washington of repeatedly betraying diplomatic efforts during negotiations.<\/p>\n
According to Al Jazeera, Baqai said in an interview with a foreign broadcaster that third countries, including Pakistan and Qatar, are actively facilitating the exchange of messages between Tehran and Washington. However, he stressed that Iran\u2019s immediate priority remains defending its sovereignty in response to recent attacks.<\/p>\n
Baqai claimed that Iran had fulfilled its commitment under the Memorandum of Understanding to ensure the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz within the agreed 30-day period. He alleged that before the deadline expired, the United States launched fresh attacks, using alleged naval incidents as justification.<\/p>\n
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman further said that this was the third time in the past year that diplomatic efforts had been undermined by military attacks during negotiations.<\/p>\n
He also alleged that the United States has not released Iran\u2019s frozen assets despite this being one of the agreed provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding.<\/p>\n
