London, United Kingdom (HRNW):<\/strong> Global free expression organization ARTICLE 19<\/strong> has intensified its international advocacy for press freedom and protection of journalists, issuing a series of statements this month calling on governments to uphold freedom of expression and safeguard independent media. The organization has recently addressed concerns involving journalists and human rights defenders in the United Kingdom, Thailand, Bangladesh, Kenya, Tunisia, Iran, Malaysia, and several other countries.<\/p>\n

Among its latest initiatives, ARTICLE 19 called on UK authorities to strengthen protections against transnational repression<\/strong>, highlighting concerns over threats faced by exiled journalists and human rights defenders.
