Lahore (HRNW)-\u00a0Heavy monsoon rain that began late last night caused widespread urban flooding across Lahore, leaving several residential areas and major roads submerged, disrupting traffic and forcing water into homes in low-lying localities.<\/p>\n
The rain continued intermittently throughout the day, creating flood-like conditions in various parts of the city. Roads in Cantt, Defence, Walton and several other areas were inundated, while water entered numerous houses, causing hardship for residents.<\/p>\n
The city’s drainage system was overwhelmed, particularly in Lahore Cantt, where several feet of water accumulated in Ali View Gardens, Ali Park, Nadra Abad and surrounding neighborhoods. Residents said many streets resembled rivers and canals due to the severe waterlogging.<\/p>\n
Rainwater also entered homes in Blocks A, B and C of Defence Phase 3, while Walton Road and Cavalry Ground were completely submerged. The main highway in Cavalry Ground was flooded, severely disrupting traffic.<\/p>\n
Water also accumulated on the Main Defence Road and inside the Defence Underpass, resulting in long traffic jams across the city. Flooded roads brought daily life to a standstill, with motorists stranded for hours.<\/p>\n
Citizens urged the authorities to improve the drainage system and take immediate measures to provide relief to affected residents.<\/p>\n
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, intermittent rainfall is expected to continue, while the monsoon showers have reduced humidity and heat in Lahore. The minimum temperature is expected to remain around 27\u00b0C, while the maximum is forecast at 29\u00b0C.<\/p>\n
According to recorded rainfall data, Lahore Airport received the highest rainfall at 262mm, followed by Manawan (200mm), Tajpur (151mm), Kahna (142mm), Shadipura (129mm), Mughalpura (127mm), and Upper Mall (111mm).<\/p>\n
