Karachi (HRNW)-\u00a0Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has no ill will toward the people of Punjab and represents the interests of the entire country.<\/p>\n
Reacting to the statement of Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari, Sharjeel Memon said that a government with a “fake mandate” has no right to lecture political parties with a genuine public mandate on democracy. He added that the public knows who came to power through Form 47 and who truly enjoys the people’s support.<\/p>\n
He said that prejudice, arrogance and inflammatory language have long been part of the PML-N\u2019s political tradition. He stressed that the PPP was founded in Punjab and has equal love and respect for the people of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.<\/p>\n
Sharjeel Memon claimed that during the PML-N\u2019s tenure, Punjab\u2019s debt increased from Rs148 billion to Rs692 billion, questioning whether this could be described as progress. He further alleged that Punjab\u2019s wheat policy caused farmers to suffer losses worth billions of rupees and imposed an additional financial burden on the province. He also noted that Karachi contributes the largest share of the country’s tax revenue, adding that the PPP does not differentiate between the people of Lahore and Karachi.<\/p>\n
The senior minister said the people of Larkana have always stood for democracy and made sacrifices for the nation. He described derogatory remarks about Larkana as an insult to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, and the people of the region. He said Larkana played a historic role in giving Pakistan its Constitution, nuclear program and international identity.<\/p>\n
Sharjeel Memon added that the PPP is a national party rather than one limited to specific regions. He said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has consistently advocated national unity, democratic values and the rights of all provinces, while accusing political opponents of promoting hatred and provincial divisions.<\/p>\n
He said the Sindh government\u2019s spokespersons will continue to defend the Constitution, provincial rights and the interests of the people. According to Sharjeel Memon, Pakistan needs respect, tolerance and federal harmony instead of politics that divide provinces.<\/p>\n
