The petitioner, Muhammad Noman, claims that between Rs70 million and Rs80 million was collected from him every week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">Officials named in the petition<br \/>\nThe petition lists the following officers:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"marker:text-quiet list-disc pl-8\">\n<li class=\"py-0 my-0 prose-p:pt-0 prose-p:mb-2 prose-p:my-0 [&amp;&gt;p]:pt-0 [&amp;&gt;p]:mb-2 [&amp;&gt;p]:my-0\">\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">DIGs: Azfar Mahesar, Asad Raza, Irfan Bahadur<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"py-0 my-0 prose-p:pt-0 prose-p:mb-2 prose-p:my-0 [&amp;&gt;p]:pt-0 [&amp;&gt;p]:mb-2 [&amp;&gt;p]:my-0\">\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">SSPs: Khalid Mustafa Qureshi, Murtaza Tabassum, Zubair Sheikh<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">Petitioner\u2019s allegations<br \/>\nMuhammad Noman told the court that a person named Wajid Sheikh blackmails him in the name of the police and regularly collects extortion money. The petitioner has urged the court to order registration of an FIR against the implicated officers, direct the IG Sindh and concerned SHOs to hold an inquiry, and provide protection to the petitioner and his family from the extortionists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:align-top\">Legal and human rights angle<br \/>\nHRNW stresses that serious allegations of extortion and blackmail linked to state institutions must be investigated transparently, impartially and promptly.
