Lahore (HRNW)<\/strong> \u2014 Director General of the Walled City of Lahore Authority, Najm\u2011ul\u2011Saqib, inspected several ongoing conservation and restoration projects across the city on 17 July 2026 to review work quality, assess progress and issue directions to ensure timely completion.<\/p>\n

The visit began at Shalimar Gardens, where the DG examined preservation and maintenance works and emphasized the importance of retaining the site\u2019s original condition and historic character. He then visited the Spice Market restoration project to observe the removal of old electricity poles following installation of an aerial bundled cable system. He also reviewed works to cover open drains in front of Akbari Mandi and measures to clear encroachments and push back structures along Gurd Mandi Road. At each site he instructed officials to maintain work pace while strictly following approved conservation standards and guidelines.<\/p>\n

Najm\u2011ul\u2011Saqib also inspected restoration work at Zaki Gate and later chaired a review meeting at the authority\u2019s office. He visited Chuna Mandi Girls College to assess ongoing repairs and urged officers to complete work swiftly without compromising standards. The tour concluded with an inspection of the Anarkali Tomb, where he reviewed preservation activities, praised the technical teams and stressed the need to safeguard the monument\u2019s historical significance.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the visits, Najm\u2011ul\u2011Saqib said the Punjab government is committed to science\u2011based measures for protecting the province\u2019s rich historical and cultural heritage. He added that regular field visits help ensure transparency, high quality and timely completion of projects.<\/p>\n

The DG said the Walled City Authority is carrying out its responsibilities for conservation, restoration and sustainable management of Lahore\u2019s historic sites so that this valuable cultural heritage can be preserved for future generations and cultural tourism promoted.<\/p>\n
