Peshawar (HRNW)-\u00a0A petition has been filed in the Peshawar High Court against two inspectors of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), alleging the illegal detention of a citizen, torture, and extortion.<\/p>\n
The petition was filed by Muhammad Sohail Khan through his counsel Shahid Mahmood Advocate, naming the Ministry of Interior, NCCIA, Inspector Ahmed Jan, and Inspector Noman as respondents.<\/p>\n
According to the petition, the petitioner, a chartered accountant and construction businessman, was detained by the two inspectors from a private restaurant in Peshawar on July 2 without a warrant or legal justification. He was allegedly taken to the NCCIA office, where he claims he was subjected to physical torture.<\/p>\n
The petitioner alleged that the officials demanded Rs25 million from him and forcibly took Rs5.2 million in cash and his mobile phone. The petition further claims that his thumb impressions were forcibly obtained on a confession during the alleged torture.<\/p>\n
According to the petition, after his release, the applicant underwent a medical examination at a private hospital in Islamabad, where the medical report allegedly confirmed signs of physical torture. The petitioner accused the officials of misusing their authority and unlawfully interfering in his personal life.<\/p>\n
The petition has requested the court to order an inquiry against both officers, suspend them from service, preserve the CCTV footage from the restaurant and the NCCIA office along with other electronic evidence, declare the alleged forced confession illegal, and direct the authorities to return the Rs5.2 million in cash and the confiscated mobile phone.<\/p>\n
